My project focuses on developing novel diagnostic tools for accurately identifying cattle lice species and detecting drug resistance. My research employs next-generation sequencing (NGS) and Loop-mediated Isothermal Amplification (LAMP) to enhance the detection of lice from both specimens and skin swabs, aiming to pinpoint pyrethroid resistance genes. This cutting-edge work not only contributes to a better understanding of ectoparasite populations but also aids in developing targeted treatments to manage infestations more effectively.
